Meλtemi Story
It all started with a λittle boat…
A boat, one summer, the colors of the Aegean Sea, and the inner need to fulfill my dream - to create my own little “something” from scratch.
For years, I was getting closer to Meλtemi, yet I could never truly reach it. It first slipped into my thoughts when I was studying Business Administration, an idea for a minimal T-shirt brand.
And later, when I moved to the Netherlands, it returned for a while in my dreams. I wanted to hold on tightly to a piece of Greece and make it mine.
When life showed me it had different plans for me, I decided to listen to my instinct and return to where I felt I truly belonged - home. I chose to begin this new chapter with the vacation of my dreams: 10 days in Ikaria island.
Ikaria, to me, means freedom. Joy without conditions. The secret to longevity is good friends, good food, and a “tomorrow is another day” mindset - that’s what the Ikarians say.
Somewhere between the boats and the Aegean light, Meltemi found me - at exactly the right moment.
Brand Identity
The concept was clear to me from the very beginning. A white T-shirt with embroidered design. 100% organic cotton. Red, yellow, blue, and white. A boat - the boat that invited me to dream, became our logo and our signature. The yellow buoys turned into hearts, and Summer became the soul and identity of the brand.
Our designs are minimal and graphic, inspired by the tattoos created by our designer (and full-time tattoo artist). And as for the “λ” in Meλtemi: Latin characters because we are international, a Greek “λ” because we are Greek at heart.
Aλλ Time Cλassic
I wanted us to become a boutique brand that speaks of Greece without shouting. A brand that honors ancient art, mythology, and tradition, with a humorous twist and a subtle wink.
Our first collection, “Aλλ Time Cλassic,” had to be strong, clear, and symbolic: five of the most iconic sculptures of ancient Greek art, reimagined through modern or folk-inspired compositions.
This is Meλtemi.
Born in Greece
Our base is Thessaloniki, and for me, it’s a priority to support local businesses. Our production unit is located in the eastern part of the city, our label partner in the west. Our socks are born in Athens, and all our packaging materials come from different parts of the country.
We truly believe in a thriving Greek entrepreneurship.
